The key to the practice is mindfulness

The key to the practice is mindfulness — in Pali is Sati. Mindfulness means presence of mind, attentiveness, awareness, observation, bare attention. It is an attitude of impartial watchfulness and alertness. To "meditate" means to set up mindfulness and maintain it by the power of concentration — in whatever position or circumstance you find yourself.
