This talk is inspired by Sayadaw Janakābhivamsa booklet about "Time"

Kālo ghasati bhūtāni, sabbāneva sahattanā;

Yo ca kālaghaso bhūto, sa bhūtapacaniṃ paci. (Mūlapariyāya Jātaka 245)

"Time all consumes, even time itself as well.

Who is’t consumes the all-consumer? tell!"

Time exists because we have sun and moon who rotate and evolve. From there, there are years, seasons, months, days, hour, minutes, etc...

The sun and the moon appears because of our kamma.

Our kamma happens because of our ignorance.

If someone should ask why time exist? The answer is because of ignorance.

Ignorance creates existences. Therefore being comes to be. If there is no existence how there can be sun and moon? How there can be time?

Thus, for those who destroys ignorance, there will be no more existence, no more sun and moon, therefore no more time.

So, it is not right to say, 'Happy New Year!', since when there is time there is suffering. Like suffering follows in every existences. There is no happiness in any year. May it be new year or old year. All should be understood, that there is always an inherent flame. The fire of anicca, dukkha, and anatta. They burn and consume everything, i.e. The sun, the moon, our body and mind, our family. They consume the time also. There is escape. It is the Truth, are you ready to accept it? Are you ready to say good bye?

So may you all not be consumed by time. May you all be the time consumer, i.e. The Arahan.

( siapa yg tidak akan habis terpakai dr semua pemakai ? Tolong diberitahu ... )

(Waktu timbul karena kita mempunyai matahari dan bulan yg berputar dan berevolusi. Dari sana timbul tahun, musim, bulan, hari, jam, menit dst.)

(Matahari dan bulan timbul disebabkan oleh karma kita masing2)

Our kamma happens because of our ignorance.
( karma kita timbul karena ketidak tahuan kita/kebodohan batin)

If someone should ask why time exist? The answer is because of ignorance.
(Jika ada org bertanya kenapa waktu itu ada ? Jawaban nya adalah disebabkan oleh ketidak tahuan)

Ignorance creates existences. Therefore being comes to be. If there is no existence how there can be sun and moon? How there can be time?
(ketidak tahuan menciptakan keberadaan. Itulah penyebab munculnya / timbulnya mahluk. Jika tidak ada keberadaan , bagaimana mungkin ada matahari dan bulan? Bagaimana mungkin muncul waktu ?

Thus, for those who destroys ignorance, there will be no more existence, no more sun and moon, therefore no more time
(. Oleh sebab itu, bagi yang sudah menggancurkan kebodohan batin/ketidak tahuan, tidak akan muncul keberadaan , tidak akan ada lagi matahari dan bulan, oleh sebab itu waktu tidak akan muncul.)

So, it is not right to say, 'Happy New Year!', since when there is time there is suffering. ( jadi, tidaklah tepat untuk mengucapkan selamat tahun baru !, karena jika ada waktu, ada penderitaan.)

Like suffering follows in every existences. There is no happiness in any year. May it be new year or old year.
(Seperti penderitaan yg mengikuti di setiap kehidupan. Tidak akan ada kebahagiaan dalam setiap tahun. Di dalam tahun baru maupun di tahun yang sebelumnya.)

All should be understood, that there is always an inherent flame.
(Semua harus dipahami bahwa akan selalu ada api keberadaan dalam suatu yg permanent)

The fire of anicca, dukkha, and anatta. They burn and consume everything, i.e. The sun, the moon, our body and mind, our family.
(Api dari anicca dukkha anatta . Semua itu akan membakar dan menghabisi semuanya, contohnya : matahari, bulan, badan dan pikiran kita, serta keluarga kita..)

They consume the time also.. There is escape. It is the Truth, are you ready to accept it? Are you ready to say good bye?

( Api tersebut juga akan menghabisi waktu.. Ada jalan keluar.. yaitu kebenaran mulia. Apakah kamu siap untuk menerima nya? APAKAH kamu siap untuk mengucapkan selamat tinggal ?

So may you all not be consumed by time. May you all be the time consumer, i.e. The Arahan.

(Jadi semoga kalian semuanya tidak dimakan oleh waktu. Semoga kalian semua bisa memanfaatkan waktu..ie. spt Arahant (Yang Tercerahkan )
